Teri has been thinking about this New Year, 2017 and the various life paths we choose or in some cases stumbled down. Her personal path can be measured in literal miles as it has taken her from the East Coast to the West Coast and finds her now solidly grounded in the Midwest, obsessed with farming of all things! Moving and living in very different regions in the US has provided her with a special insight into people, particularly the women she has befriended in the various seasons of her life. When asked which path she enjoyed best, she pauses and revels that, ” it is the one that I haven’t travelled yet, I anticipate the excitement of knowing each year that I have an opportunity to explore new places, continue to meet new people and just maybe run across the possibility of making a positive difference in someone’s life, that is the thought that brings me the greatest joy”.
What does “your path” mean to you? Is it having an endgame? Will meeting a goal or overcoming a challenge make your life more fulfilling? Do you find that self-doubt is always an obstacle on your path? Do you try to keep your eye on the prize but find yourself considering past mistakes? Relax.
This is a snippet from the transcript of the Oprah Winfrey interview at the Stanford Graduate School of Business as posted by Cheryl Washington on Dec 7th, 2014 at workandlaunch.com:
“There are no mistakes. There really aren’t any, because you have a supreme destiny.
When you’re in your little mind, in your little personality mind or you’re not centered, you really don’t know who you are that you come from something greater and bigger. We really all are the same.
You don’t know that, you get all flustered, you get stressed all the time, wanting something to be what it isn’t.
There’s a supreme moment of destiny calling on your life. Your job is to feel that, to hear that, to know that and sometimes, when you’re not listening, you get taken off track.
You get in the wrong marriage, the wrong relationship, you take the wrong job. Yeah, but it’s all leading to the same path. There are no wrong paths. There are none.
There’s no such thing as failure really, because failure is just that thing, trying to move you in another direction.
So when you understand that you don’t allow yourself to be completely thrown by a grade or by a circumstance because your life is bigger than any one experience. I always ask people on Super Soul Sunday to tell me, what would you say to your younger self?
Every person says in one form or another, I would have said, relax.
Relax. It’s going to be okay.
Join us at Seasons of Sisterhood this year as we talk about life and all of the opportunities afforded to us. Our path is not a mystery or just a new age way of speaking, logically it is a sum of all of the decisions we make. There are no wrong choices on your path because your decisions will only lead you to different opportunities. Your soul knows the way, let it lead you.
Will you comment and share your current path? Is it a little foggy on your path? I know mine sure is! How will I even know it when I reach it? Here are a few signs that you are on the right path.
1.) You feel excited waking up in the morning.
2) You don’t know where your confidence is coming from but you have plenty of it.
3) You find yourself focused more on the future instead of the past.
4) You are eager to make small improvements every day.
5) You’ve shared your goal with others.
Choose a path, relax. Jimmy Buffett said, “Older and wiser voices can help you find the right path, if you are only willing to listen”.
We have seasoned souls here within our Sisterhood, let’s chat.
